Según Bitcoin News, el congresista estadounidense Nick Begich ha presentado la "Ley de Modernización de la Reserva de EE. UU.", la cual ya cuenta con 16 copatrocinadores originales. El proyecto de ley establecerá una reserva estratégica de Bitcoin, integrará los activos digitales en poder federal y los fijará como activos de reserva a largo plazo por al menos 20 años.
El proyecto de ley también explora estrategias de adquisición de Bitcoin que sean neutrales en términos presupuestarios, al tiempo que protege las reservas de futuros esfuerzos de liquidación por parte del gobierno y el Congreso. Los medios comentaron que la reserva estratégica de Bitcoin establecida por Trump mediante una orden ejecutiva será consagrada formalmente en la ley por la "Ley de Modernización de la Reserva de EE. UU."
