BlockBeats News, 2 de septiembre, SlowMist Cosmos actualizó la información sobre el incidente de seguridad en Venus en la plataforma X: en este robo a una cuenta whale, tanto el protocolo Venus como su interfaz deberían estar seguros. Actualmente, el análisis de los socios de SlowMist sugiere que la cuenta whale fue blanco de un ataque dirigido. Aunque el usuario utilizaba una hardware wallet, la extensión de billetera en el ordenador (utilizada junto con la hardware wallet) fue reemplazada. Cuando el usuario ejecutó una operación normal de redeemUnderlying, esta fue sustituida por una operación updateDelegate, lo que resultó en el robo de sus activos en Venus.
El hacker atacó los fondos de esta cuenta whale mediante un ataque de precisión. El Gas provino de un exchange de la criptomoneda de privacidad Monero XMR, y otros fondos relacionados se rastrean hasta eXch, la plataforma de trading de la dark web previamente sancionada y utilizada frecuentemente por hackers norcoreanos.
