A blockchain-enabled platform, Tether, has publicized the positioning of its native USDT stablecoin on Kaia blockchain, a layer 1 network launched in August last year on May 7. As per the announcement, USDT will be amalgamated into the Japanese messaging app LINE’s Mini Dapp platform and self-custodial wallet. Tether posted on X that the stablecoin of Tether will back Mini Dapps and many more, helping to unlock a new era of virtual dollar utility across the Asian continent. After the introduction of USDT on Kaia, LINE NEXT and Kaia Chain will focus on expanding stablecoin as well as Web3 adoption in the same region. The official announcement mentioned that the users can leverage USDT over Mini Dapps for in-app payments, cross-border transfers, and decentralized finance (DeFi) activities, all in the known LINE environment. Also, Mini Dapps will offer features backed by the stablecoin, giving users an easy and smooth digital asset experience within LINE Messenger. The launch will also permit users to get rewards in USDT by fulfilling various missions within Mini Dapps. LINE’s 200M+ Users to Gain Seamless Access to USDT Utility Moving forward, the users will also be able to send and receive the dollar-pegged stablecoin directly from the in-app wallet on the Japanese messaging application, as per the press release. The chief executive officer of Tether, Paolo Ardoino, mentioned that the native launch of Tether on Kaia is another milestone in making stablecoins accessible to millions of mainstream users. By using LINE NEXT blockchain infrastructure, more than 200 million LINE users will get a direct way to leverage virtual assets in their daily life routine. The chief executive officer of LINE NEXT, Youngsu Ko, mentions that the adoption will also help to set up a dollar-based gateway on the continent. Tether has witnessed a $1 billion operating profit in the first quarter of this year, influenced by strong returns on its U.S Treasury holdings.
