The Berlin city government was attacked by cybercriminals two weeks ago, with the hacker group Rhysida demanding a ransom of 30 bitcoins (approximately 2 million euros) based on stolen data, threatening to publish the information. The attack involved sensitive information, including records of violations and passwords. The Berlin state government has not yet confirmed the extent of the data breach and has not responded to the ransom amount or the identity of the attackers, stating that it will not comment for investigative strategy reasons. Berlin's mayor, Kai Wegner, stated that the city will not yield to the ransom demands. The departments primarily affected were transportation and construction management, which were temporarily isolated from the state government’s network after the incident.
