October Palace in Kyiv Returned to the State by Court Decision
The Economic Court of Kyiv has satisfied the prosecutor's claim and ruled to return the International Center of Culture and Arts (October Palace) located at Alley of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, 1, to the state. The court annulled the private ownership rights of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine over the complex of buildings with a total area of 17,597.7 square meters. The claim was filed by the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office in the interests of the State Property Fund of Ukraine. The court annulled the certificate dated March 28, 2007, regarding the ownership rights of the Federation of Trade Unions and the state registration of private ownership of the property. The Federation of Trade Unions was ordered to return the main buildings and the small hall of the October Palace with a total area of 16,329 square meters. The building has the status of a monument of urban planning and architecture of national significance and a monument of local historical significance. The court also ordered the Federation of Trade Unions to pay 852,700 UAH in court fees to the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office. The decision will come into force after the expiration of the appeal period, unless an appeal is filed.
