Artificial intelligence is making strides aimed at replacing repetitive tasks and enhancing various work areas. In this evolution, a technological invention has been created that bets on an unconventional design to guard homes without human intervention.
The project is still in the prototype stage, although it already showcases several of its capabilities. With a single wheel, sensors, and cameras, this novel device aims to constantly monitor your home in a more economical way than other similar systems.
The Estonian startup Rollo Robotics is developing 1Rollo, an autonomous robot designed to traverse private properties and perform surveillance tasks using artificial intelligence. An interesting fact about the device is that it moves on a single wheel to reduce manufacturing complexity and production costs.
The device has not yet reached the market, as it remains in the functional prototype phase, but the company plans to start commercialization in 2027 through a subscription system known as Robotics as a Service (RaaS). With this model, customers do not purchase the equipment but pay for the service and receive updates for hardware, software, and technical support.
To carry out its patrols, the robot follows a pre-configured map. Navigation relies on a GNSS RTK positioning system, which is a technology that allows it to move accurately at all times. Additionally, it has a 360-degree vision system, cameras, and various sensors that identify obstacles and modify its trajectory when necessary. Furthermore, the software analyzes the environment to detect unusual situations and generate alerts.
When it identifies a potential threat or suspicious event, the device sends a notification to a remote operator via 4G, 5G, or Wi-Fi connection. From that control center, personnel can assess the situation and decide whether to send a guard to the location. In any case, it also offers the possibility to communicate directly with people present in the area thanks to the microphone and speaker integrated into the robot.
The invention can also work very well in security companies, industrial parks, warehouses, and large premises, as the cloud platform developed by the company also offers the possibility to monitor multiple units simultaneously.
The most striking feature of 1Rollo is its balance system, because having a single wheel, the robot incorporates an internal flywheel that spins vertically and keeps the entire structure stable while moving. When it needs to turn, this mechanism adjusts its tilt to the left or right without losing stability. Its main technical specifications are:
The company's intention is to offer the entire service within a single subscription so that customers always have access to new features without needing to replace the equipment every time an update appears. If the development meets expectations during final testing, 1Rollo could become a sensation in both homes and businesses.

Banco Santander's Form 13F-HR, filed July 29, 2026, reports 129,615 shares of BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust worth $4.31M as of June 30 — its first-ever disclosed spot-bitcoin-ETF position, alongside a first ether-ETF holding. What the filing shows is a quarter-end snapshot of ETF shares; what it does not show is motive, or bitcoin on the bank's balance sheet.
