The five major cryptocurrency exchanges in South Korea have listed 1,236 altcoins and delisted 430 since 2022. The simultaneous increase in new listings and delistings has raised concerns about the exchanges' listing review processes and post-listing management. According to data from 2022 to the end of July 2026, Bithumb accounted for 426 listings and 134 delistings, Coinone had 337 listings and 157 delistings, and Upbit recorded 219 listings and 42 delistings. Gopax had 106 listings and 67 delistings, while Korbit had 148 listings and 30 delistings. The delisting ratio compared to new listings was highest at Gopax, at 63.2%. Among the reasons for Upbit's delistings, user harm was the most common, with 28 cases. There were 38 altcoins that could not last even a year after listing, with Bithumb having the highest number at 16. While listings increase investor accessibility and trading volume, delistings can lead to reduced liquidity and price volatility risks. The Financial Services Commission is discussing amendments to best practices for trading support, and the consistent application of listing review and delisting criteria in the cryptocurrency market remains a challenge.
