81% of customs declarations contain violations or errors
From January to August 2026, post-customs control generated over 408 million UAH in additional customs payments to the state budget, nearly double compared to the same period last year. In 81% of the declarations covered by the additional verification analysis, customs officials found violations of legislation or errors in filling out the forms. Customs authorities processed 2,690 declarations and conducted 854 documentary checks. Self-corrections by declarants resulted in 280.9 million UAH in additional payments, which is 2.4 times more than from January to August 2025. Based on the results of the documentary checks, enterprises were assessed 2.08 billion UAH in monetary obligations, of which 127.7 million UAH was received in the budget, 24.5% more than last year. The largest portion of additional assessments is related to violations in determining the country of origin of goods. Post-customs control allows for the verification of the correctness of payment calculations without delaying goods at the customs clearance stage. Over eight months, more than 7,500 violations totaling 2.9 billion UAH were recorded, which is 17% more than in the same period last year.
