Chainalysis estimates France crypto tax noncompliance rate over 90%
The rate of unreported or unfulfilled crypto tax obligations in France may exceed 90%, according to Chainalysis. There is a significant gap in France’s crypto tax reporting system between potentially taxable crypto activity and actual tax filings. For the 2024 income year, only 24000 individuals reported net gains from crypto, with total declared net gains of 368 million euros. In the previous year, about 7700 taxpayers reported a combined 150.8 million euros in gains. Chainalysis indicated that the trend shows crypto tax reporting is not being conducted properly. The estimate of nonreporting and noncompliance exceeding 90% aligns with the global picture, where Chainalysis previously estimated that potentially taxable on-chain activity worldwide would exceed 457 billion dollars in 2025, with only about 14% expected to comply with new reporting frameworks.
