Cohere Valuation Reaches $20.5 Billion with Investment from Canadian Government and NVIDIA
Canadian AI startup Cohere is raising a funding round that values the company at $20.5 billion, nearly doubling its valuation from a year ago. Cohere has completed the first tranche of this funding round, which is expected to raise up to $5 billion in total. Investors include the Canadian government and NVIDIA, with a $600 million investment from the Schwartz Group also included. The Canadian government has agreed to invest up to $1.14 billion in Cohere. Cohere plans to maintain its headquarters in Canada and expects to build new computing infrastructure in the country by 2030, investing approximately $1.2 billion. If this funding round is successfully completed, it will become the largest private financing in Canadian history, far exceeding previous records. Cohere declined to disclose how much of the funding target has been secured, but the first tranche has been covered.
