Jim Cramer Names Nvidia, Broadcom as Winners from OpenAI's ChatGPT-6 Astra Launch
Jim Cramer identified Nvidia and Broadcom as the top beneficiaries from OpenAI's ChatGPT-6 Astra launch during CNBC's Morning Meeting show. Nvidia (NVDA) saw a decline of nearly 2%, closing at 225.80, while Broadcom (AVGO) rose by almost 3% to 368.17. OpenAI began the rollout of Astra last week, claiming it to be their most advanced model yet, with a focus on cybersecurity, coding, and computer tasks. Astra was trained on approximately 100,000 Nvidia Grace Blackwell systems, with an additional 400,000 chips expected to be deployed. Cramer interpreted this as a strong demand signal for Nvidia. He recommended buying Nvidia stock, stating, "The stock that I think you should be buying is Nvidia." Broadcom developed a custom chip named Jalapeño for OpenAI, set for initial deployment by the end of 2026. Cramer emphasized that a positive reception for Astra would bolster OpenAI's position and benefit Broadcom's custom silicon orders. He linked potential stock growth to OpenAI and Anthropic going public, with Broadcom as a preferred partner. Analysts are bullish on both stocks, with Nvidia receiving 29 buy ratings and an average 12-month target of 325.23, indicating a 44% upside. Broadcom has 26 buys and three holds, with an average target of 521.41, suggesting a 42% upside. The lowest target for Nvidia is 275, above its current price, while Broadcom's lowest target of 350 is below its current price of 369. Cramer's charitable trust holds shares in Nvidia and Broadcom, alongside Intel and Micron.
