Launch of the Temporary Working Group for Cryptocurrency Exchange Regulation

The temporary working group for regulating cryptocurrency exchanges was formed after 15 months. This resolution was approved by the Supreme Commission for Regulating the Virtual Space on May 27, 2025, and was announced for implementation on September 5, 2026. The working group is responsible for drafting regulations for cryptocurrency exchanges, issuing licenses for exchanges, and supervising their operations for a period of 18 months. It must also develop a timeline for bringing active exchanges into compliance with the new regulations. Thirteen governmental, judicial, security, and professional entities, including the Central Bank, the Securities and Exchange Organization, the Attorney General's Office, and various ministries, are part of this working group. The goal of establishing this working group is to coordinate decision-making in the cryptocurrency sector and create a unified framework for the operation of exchanges. The working group meetings must be held at least once every two weeks. Additionally, there is an emphasis on facilitating the use of cryptocurrencies for financing and investment.
