Midterm Elections on November 3, 2026, Impact Cryptocurrency Market
On November 3, 2026, Americans will vote in the midterm elections, where all members of the House of Representatives and a portion of the Senate will be elected. The outcome is crucial for the cryptocurrency market, as the elected politicians will influence new crypto laws, taxes, and oversight of crypto companies. The elections could determine which crypto laws will be further addressed and which plans will receive support. The party with the most seats in Congress has significant influence over the agenda. This was evident with the CLARITY Act, which stalled in the Senate with 49 votes in favor and 50 against. Politicians are also working on clearer tax rules for crypto, such as the Digital Asset Tax Certainty Act, which addresses small crypto payments and rewards from mining and staking. This proposal is not yet law and may be further addressed or modified by new politicians. Politicians can hold regulators accountable and have influence over their budgets. The crypto sector supports candidates from both parties who are positive towards crypto. For Dutch investors, European regulations remain unchanged, but U.S. policies may have implications for globally active crypto exchanges.
