MultiversX Mainnet Hacked, Network Paused

By: x.com|2026/09/20 00:56:00

MultiversX has confirmed that its mainnet has been hacked, with attackers exploiting atomicity issues at the virtual machine level, resulting in invalid state changes on the chain. To prevent further impact, the network has been paused. The engineering team has prepared a fix and is validating it in a shadow fork environment. If the tests are successful, they will coordinate with validators, exchanges, and infrastructure partners to deploy the fix to the mainnet. Meanwhile, the team is assessing targeted recovery plans aimed at preserving confirmed transaction history and legitimate user states, while only addressing the invalid changes related to this incident. Users do not need to take any action and should wait for notifications regarding the restoration of normal operations. The official reminder advises users not to submit or rebroadcast transactions, and to refrain from depositing or withdrawing EGLD and ESDT through exchanges or cross-chain bridges.
