UK Engineer Sues BitMEX for £20 Million
British software engineer Lewis Barber has filed a lawsuit in the High Court of England against HDR Global Trading Limited, the operator of the cryptocurrency derivatives exchange BitMEX, seeking £20 million in damages. Barber accuses BitMEX of offering cryptocurrency derivatives to UK investors without authorization from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). He claims that trading derivatives provided by BitMEX from 2018 to 2022 resulted in losses of approximately £20 million in Bitcoin, and he is now seeking the return of the relevant Bitcoin or equivalent compensation.
