Used Car Prices in September 2026: How Much Do the Most Sought-After Models Cost?
The used car market conducts over 100,000 transactions per month between individuals and agencies. With August sales already defined, the Automotive Commerce Chamber updated the values for September for the models with the highest number of transfers.
The activity remains high, although not all transactions are easily completed. The differences in valuing a used vehicle and the lack of credit with competitive rates still weigh on negotiations.
The Volkswagen Gol remains the best-selling model, while pickups occupy the spots with the highest valuations.
The 10 Most Sold Used Cars and Their Market Values
The Volkswagen Gol was once again the best-selling used car, with 8,647 transfers during August. The 5-door 1.6 Trendline version is valued at $15,861,000. The Chevrolet Corsa, third in the ranking, is significantly cheaper: the 2016 5-door 1.4 Advantage model has a price of $9,400,000.
Pickups occupy three places among the top five. The Toyota Hilux is second and has the highest value of the group, at $22,917,000 for the single cab 2.4 TDi 4x2 DX 6M. The Ford Ranger appears fourth, with $18,777,000, and the Volkswagen Amarok fifth, at $19,480,000.
Among the smaller cars, the Peugeot 208 5-door 1.6 Active costs $14,350,000, while the Ford Ka 5 doors 1.5 12V is priced at $12,950,000. The Fiat Palio, which completes the ranking, has a reference of $12,667,000 for the 2018 5-door 1.4 Active model.
The Ford EcoSport and the Toyota Corolla also made it into the top ten most transferred. The former reaches $18,841,000 in its 5-door 1.5 S version; the Toyota sedan, on the other hand, goes up to $20,956,000 for the 4-door 2.0 XLI M.
How Do Year and Version Influence the Final Value?
The year of manufacture changes the valuation even when it comes to the same model. A newer unit usually ranks above an older one, although other factors specific to each vehicle come into play.
The version also affects the price. The engine, level of equipment, number of doors, or type of traction can make significant differences between two units of the same year.
To compare the models in the ranking, the most economical versions from 2020 were taken. In the case of the Corsa and the Palio, 2016 and 2018 units were used, as they were no longer manufactured in 2020.
Recommendations Before Buying a Car
The prices for September serve as a reference to start comparing, especially when looking for one of the models that appear among the best sellers. Before proceeding, it is advisable to check that the year and version of the ad match those used for the valuation.
If there is another vehicle involved, the valuation can be one of the most challenging points to agree on. Not all operators offer the same value for a used car delivered as part of the payment, and that difference can weigh heavily in the negotiation.
The other issue is credit. The lack of financing with competitive rates continues to limit part of the purchases, especially when a significant portion of the price depends on installments or some financed scheme.
