Visa Stablecoin Card Payments Surge 200%, Exceeding 160 Programs
Visa's stablecoin-linked card payment volume has increased by 200% compared to the previous year, with the number of related card programs exceeding 160. As of the second quarter of the 2026 fiscal year, the annualized volume of stablecoin payments has surpassed $20 billion, representing more than a 15-fold increase from the previous year. Stablecoin-linked cards allow users to utilize stablecoins from their digital wallets for card payments, with Visa's network settlement obligations being fulfilled first during transactions. While initial card programs require daily settlements, the small amount of necessary funding can create situations where traditional lending is difficult to access. Visa, in collaboration with Credit Coop, has established an on-chain revolving loan structure to supply daily settlement funds, using the receivables from card program settlements as collateral. This structure can reduce the funding costs for participating programs by up to 30%. Credit Coop has raised over $2.5 billion since 2023 and has processed more than 3,000 on-chain loans and over 9,000 repayments. This announcement illustrates the expanding use of stablecoins in card payments and settlement infrastructure.
