6 Dormant Wallets Transfer 553 BTC After Over 10 Years, Worth Approximately $40 Million

Six wallets that were last active between 2011 and 2014 transferred a total of 553.59 bitcoins, worth about $40 million, between August 16 and August 26. One of the wallets had not made any transactions for over 15 years. Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy Digital, pointed out that the number of dormant bitcoins transferred on-chain in the second quarter fell to the lowest level since the third quarter of 2022. Galaxy defines bitcoins that have not changed for at least a year as "dormant coins."
