Alibaba Completes HK$80 Billion New Share Placement for AI and Cloud Infrastructure
Alibaba Group has completed a new share placement of HK$80 billion, issuing 710 million new ordinary shares to non-U.S. persons outside the United States at a placement price of HK$112.70 per share. The net proceeds from the placement will be entirely used to strengthen its global AI strategy, with approximately 60% (HK$47.871 billion) allocated to expanding global computing infrastructure and about 40% (HK$31.914 billion) aimed at accelerating the construction of large-scale AI data centers. The funds will also be used to upgrade traditional cloud infrastructure, including storage, databases, and high-performance networks, supporting Alibaba's transition to a smart cloud architecture. The shares offered in this placement were not registered under the U.S. Securities Act of 1933 and were issued and sold only to specific non-U.S. persons outside the United States in accordance with Regulation S.
