Arthur Hayes: Flop Token Value Depends on AI Agent Transactions
Arthur Hayes, CEO of Flop Labs, stated that the value of Flop tokens relies on whether transactions between AI agents can be implemented. In an interview on September 3, he emphasized that if transactions between AI agents are not internalized within the network, it will be difficult for the token to gain meaningful value. Flop is a blockchain project where AI agents pay tokens to miners and request inference tasks, currently focusing on securing computing providers and validators. Hayes acknowledged that the dispute resolution structure has not yet been sufficiently designed and stated that a layer for this is necessary. Flop's official documentation includes features for transactions between agents and dispute resolution, where if there is a disagreement on the inference results performed by miners, validators verify the results. Flop plans to allocate 3.5 billion FLOP, which corresponds to 20.4% of the total supply based on the 10-year benchmark, for a Genesis airdrop. The testnet is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, followed by the mainnet in the first quarter of 2027. In the AI agent economy, transactions must involve contract execution and result verification, and the dispute resolution system can impact network usability and token demand.
