Balancer Community Proposes Fork and Rebirth
The Balancer community has released a proposal for a fork and rebirth, led by MAXYZ, to continue the protocol. Regardless of whether the shutdown proposal is approved, liquidity, teams, partners, users, and intellectual property can all migrate to this fork. The liquidity pools and treasury are expected to operate until the end of Q2 2027. The remaining uncirculated BAL can be used as pre-fork funds, and if a TGE event occurs after the fork, an allocation equivalent to 10% of its FDV total or equivalent assets will be pre-allocated to the Balancer treasury, and the fork treasury will not participate in the Balancer treasury redemption. MAXYZ will initially cover the costs of establishing the legal entity, and after verification by the treasury committee, will allocate funds to a designated Ethereum address, while also relinquishing two seats on the treasury committee, changing the voting threshold from 5 out of 7 to 4 out of 5. The fork entity will receive a permanent, irrevocable, non-exclusive license for Balancer's related intellectual property, which will convert to an exclusive transfer if the Balancer entity is dissolved.
