Czech Bitcoin Donation Case Defendant Signals Cooperation, Prosecutors Seek 20-Year Imprisonment
The main defendant in the Czech cryptocurrency money laundering case, Tomáš Jiříkovský, has signaled for the first time a willingness to cooperate with the investigation. The Brno city court ruled to continue his detention, citing a risk of flight and the possibility that he may still control undisclosed cryptocurrency assets. Prosecutors stated that Jiříkovský has changed his stance on the operation of dark web markets and the laundering of criminal proceeds, but has not yet provided detailed testimony. The prosecution is seeking a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and asset forfeiture, with the case involving his donation of Bitcoin worth $44 million to the Czech Ministry of Justice.
