Digital Assets Step Out of the Shadows and Into Consumer Experience, Says Rocelo Lopes at Blockchain.RIO 2026
The creator of Truther by RezolvePay will present the lecture "From Infrastructure to Experience" on August 13. Additionally, he discusses how blockchain and digital assets are beginning to transform payments, businesses, and consumers' relationship with money.
For years, the discussion around blockchain has been focused on infrastructure, protocols, and technical aspects. However, the next chapter of digital assets is set to happen much closer to the consumer. This occurs at the moment of paying, buying, transferring resources, or moving money.
This is the thesis of Rocelo Lopes. He is the Head of the Global Digital Currency Initiative at Rezolve AI and the creator of Truther by RezolvePay. The presentation will take place at Blockchain.RIO 2026, on August 12 and 13, at ExpoRio. The event brings together financial institutions, regulators, companies, and leaders in the digital asset market. Thus, the goal is to discuss the evolution of financial infrastructure in Latin America.
On August 13, from 2:55 PM to 3:15 PM, at the Finance Stage, Lopes will present the lecture "From Infrastructure to Experience --- How Digital Assets are Transforming Businesses and Consumers".
Why Consumer Experience Changes the Game for Digital Assets
According to the executive, the significant change lies in the fact that consumers do not need to understand the technology behind a transaction. Thus, they can simply use it.
In the presentation, Rocelo will address the changing role of digital assets. In particular, he will talk about stablecoins. They, for example, are beginning to find practical applications beyond trading and investment.
Stablecoins and the Invisible Layer of Payments
In the executive's view, holding value in digital assets creates new alternatives. Furthermore, it is possible to move them globally and use them for payments. This applies to both consumers and businesses.
A simple example is the integration between stablecoins and retail. The consumer can pay with digital dollars. Meanwhile, the establishment receives in local currency. This way, no one needs to deal with the complexity of blockchain.
It is precisely this invisible layer that may determine the next phase of adoption, according to Lopes. Therefore, the experience needs to be simple.
Impact on Businesses and Infrastructure at Scale
The transformation, however, does not only happen on the consumer side. For businesses, the new infrastructure opens up space for new payment models. They connect digital assets and fiat currencies. Additionally, they facilitate operations that cross borders.
Lopes' practical experience comes from an infrastructure that already operates at scale. Smartpay was acquired by Rezolve AI in October 2025. In the 12 months leading up to September of that year, it processed over 19 million commercial transactions. The volume, therefore, exceeded $1 billion. The acquisition integrated this infrastructure into Rezolve AI's global digital asset payment strategy. The figures were disclosed by the company itself.
For Rocelo, this transition is set to define the coming years of the sector. Thus, technology moves from being just behind the scenes to solving everyday problems.
