Digital Stock Market Grows to 3 Billion Dollars

The market for digital versions of stocks has grown to over 3 billion dollars by the end of September, an increase of about 700 million dollars since January. This is evident from an analysis by Binance Research. Digital stocks, recorded as tokens on a blockchain, can be traded outside regular stock market hours. In the third quarter, more than 100 billion dollars worth of these tokens were moved. The value of digital stocks now represents about 8 percent of the total value of traditional assets on blockchains. The use of digital stocks increased from 6 billion dollars in the first quarter to over 100 billion dollars in the third quarter. This amount does not only include newly invested money, as tokens can change hands multiple times. Some of the tokens are used as collateral in financial apps on blockchains. The market value used in this way rose from 1.8 to 6.3 percent. Investors need to be aware of the differences in rights associated with tokens, as not all tokens provide the same rights as traditional stocks. The rapid growth of this market indicates that the boundary between crypto and traditional investments is blurring.
