Don Wilson Questions Six Core Issues of Hyperliquid
The founder and CEO of trading firm DRW, Don Wilson, has raised several questions regarding the push by the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange to introduce the decentralized perpetual contract platform Hyperliquid to the U.S. market. He pointed out that the main benefit of on-chain trading is the reduction of friction, but perpetual contracts themselves are not assets, so certain benefits do not apply. He asked Stan Druckenmiller whether he understood that positions and trades on Hyperliquid can be tracked in real-time and whether he sees this as an advantage. Additionally, Wilson mentioned Hyperliquid's priority fee mechanism, which allows participants to pay to see information earlier, questioning whether this aligns with the core principles of the CFTC. He also questioned whether the liquidity of offshore and onshore order books can be merged and whether listing perpetual contracts on regulated exchanges using traditional centralized order books is superior to the inefficiencies brought by on-chain matching. Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and trade[XYZ] have announced plans to use Hyperliquid as infrastructure to deploy a perpetual contract market covering crypto assets, stocks, commodities, forex, and other physical assets for U.S. traders upon receiving regulatory approval.
