Ethereum Bridge Suffers $31.69 Million Loss, B² Staking Suspended

Security issues have arisen with the Ethereum bridge and staking contracts, increasing uncertainty for cryptocurrency users regarding withdrawals. A total loss of approximately $31.69 million has occurred at the AFX and Verus-Ethereum bridges, leading the B² network to suspend its staking contracts. $24.15 million in USDC was leaked from the AFX bridge, and AFX stated that this incident stemmed from organized social engineering attacks and infrastructure breaches. AFX is pursuing fund recovery but has not announced a compensation plan. At the Verus bridge, 1,137.4528 ETH and seven token transfers were processed, with the unsecured payout estimated at around $7.54 million. The B² network experienced unauthorized access to the upgrade rights of its staking contracts, halting regular staking and promising full compensation to affected users. However, confirmation of the completion of compensation has not been verified. Users can request manual withdrawals through the official Discord. All three incidents occurred outside the consensus of the base chain.
