Cryptocurrency venture capital activity rebounded in the second quarter of 2026, with total investments reaching approximately $5.6 billion across 384 deals, marking a 31% increase quarter-on-quarter and a 10% rise in the number of transactions. The growth in funding was primarily driven by later-stage financing. New fundraisings faced challenges, with only five new funds raising about $3.9 billion in the second quarter, the lowest number of newly established funds since Q4 2019. Based on the investment pace in the first half of 2026, the total annual investment is projected to be around $20.037 billion, slightly lower than the $20.3 billion in 2025, but higher than most periods during the market downturn from 2023 to 2024. In terms of investment allocation, later-stage transactions accounted for 77%, early-stage transactions for 15%, and seed and pre-seed transactions for 7%. U.S. startups received 73.5% of the investment funds, representing 39.1% of the 384 transactions. Transaction, exchange, investment, and lending companies topped the list with approximately $3.523 billion across 51 deals.
