Gate.io Denies Allegations of Concealing Evidence in $1.7 Million Theft Case

By: rootdata|2026/07/27 19:33:00

Gate.io users and the exchange are in conflict over the delay in submitting investigation materials related to a $1.7 million cryptocurrency theft incident. User Jheioff claims that $1.7 million worth of cryptocurrency was stolen from his account and alleges that Gate.io concealed evidence from the police investigation. Jheioff stated that he had set up mobile authentication and Google two-step verification but did not receive the authentication code. Gate.io rebutted the claims, stating that the incident did not stem from its own data leak and labeled the evidence concealment allegations as "baseless accusations." Both parties are debating the reasons for the delay in submitting materials to the investigative authorities. Jheioff requested a list of documents required by the police from the exchange but claims that the necessary materials were not delivered in time. On the other hand, Gate.io argues that the user's response was slow and that he rejected offers for legal assistance, pointing out issues with missing documents and verification difficulties. As of now, it has not been determined which side's claims are true, and the future points of contention are expected to be the appropriateness of the documents requested by the investigative authorities and the exchange's verification procedures.
