Guotai Junan International Restricts Fund Deposits and Stock Purchases for Mainland Accounts
On September 28, some Chinese-funded securities firms in Hong Kong began to clear their existing business with mainland China. Guotai Junan International has partially adjusted its services for existing mainland investor accounts since September 26. When existing mainland investor accounts log in from mainland China, they will be unable to deposit funds or purchase stocks, and can only withdraw funds or sell. If the account is logged in from outside China, the fund transfer and trading functions will not be affected. Customers who need to update their identity must provide new identification information, which will not be subject to this rule.
