The Military Police of Belo Horizonte discovered a Bitcoin mining farm in a junkyard during an operation against the reception of stolen metals. A suspect was arrested at the scene. Cemig confirmed that the equipment was powered by stolen electricity. The suspect did not present invoices and could not explain the origin of the machines. During the inspection, signs of copper reception were found, and on the second floor of the property, 15 Bitcoin mining machines, possibly Antminer S17 models, were located. Authorities estimate that the equipment, including three servers, is worth 200,000 reais, and the electricity theft may have caused a loss of 60,000 reais per month to Cemig. A 37-year-old employee was arrested for theft and reception, and a police report was filed against a 31-year-old man and woman responsible for the company. Investigations are seeking to trace the cryptocurrencies mined on-site, with the PM suggesting the possibility of a criminal organization involved.
