Netflix to Pay $200 Million for Women's World Cup Broadcast Rights
Netflix will pay approximately $200 million for the broadcasting rights of the Women's World Cup matches in 2027 and 2031 in the United States and Canada. The contract was announced earlier, but the financial details have only now come to light. The $200 million sum for the rights to the 2027 World Cup, which will take place in Brazil, makes this agreement one of the largest for women's sporting events. In comparison, Fox paid around $485 million for the rights to the men's World Cup in 2026. FIFA plans to double the revenue from the women's World Cup to $1 billion. The organization aims to enhance the monetization of the tournaments and is considering separating commercial interests into a separate structure. In 2023, separate rights for the women's World Cup were sold for the first time, with total media rights revenue amounting to approximately $270 million.
