OpenCode Cancels First Month $5 Discount for Go Package
OpenCode has canceled the half-price discount for the first month of the Go package, and new users will now need to pay $10 directly. Co-founder Dax Raad stated that the discount attracted a lot of abuse, leading the team to decide to cancel it. Previously, users reported on GitHub that they were able to re-subscribe to the Go package by changing their payment method and still enjoyed the $5 discount, raising suspicions that the eligibility for the discount was not fully tied to the OpenCode account, allowing old users to repeatedly enjoy the new user price. Additionally, some merchants registered accounts in bulk to obtain the $5 discount and then resold it through the API. Dax mentioned that the team still hopes to retain a new user discount but needs to redesign it to prevent abuse.
