Sberbank Tests Bitcoin Transaction Service for Clients
Sberbank has begun a technical check of a service for transactions with Bitcoin and other digital assets for private and corporate clients. The new tool will allow for the purchase, sale, deposit, and withdrawal of cryptocurrencies. The capabilities of the service were demonstrated at the investment conference "The Present is the Future." The service will be integrated into the bank's existing digital environment, with access to transactions organized through SberBank Online, SberInvestments, and SberBusiness. During the testing phase, the bank is checking the operation of the service on liquid digital assets, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Tether (USDT). On October 6, Sberbank became the first in Russia to be included in the register of the Bank of Russia as a digital depository, allowing for legal cryptocurrency transactions within the banking system. The service is expected to be available to all clients starting December 1, although the launch depends on the regulator's decisions. The final list of available cryptocurrencies is to be established by the regulatory acts of the Bank of Russia.
