Strategy reports $8.22B Q2 net loss due to Bitcoin decline
Strategy reported a net loss of 8.22 billion dollars in Q2, down from a net income of 10.02 billion dollars a year prior, with an operating loss of 8.33 billion dollars. The company attributed a significant portion of the loss to 8.32 billion dollars in unrealized markdowns linked to declines in Bitcoin and other crypto asset prices. As of July 26, Strategy held 843,775 BTC. During a conference call, Chairman Michael Saylor stated that the company is evolving its business model and developing digital credit as a new asset class, despite subdued market sentiment and ongoing skepticism regarding BTC. Saylor emphasized that enhancing shareholder value requires restoring stable demand, high liquidity, and low volatility for the STRC perpetual preferred stock to trade near par value.
