Tarabut Secures $50 Million for Embedded Finance Expansion in Saudi Arabia
Tarabut, a Bahrain-based financial technology infrastructure company, has secured a strategic funding of $50 million (187 million SAR) with participation from Riyad Bank, the X-Tech fund managed by SAB Invest, GIB Saudi Arabia, Zamil Group, and Kanoo Ventures, along with other regional institutions. The deal is still subject to regulatory approvals, including approval from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).
Founded in 2017 by Abdullah Al-Muayyad, Tarabut operates a regulated financial infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain, connecting financial institutions, businesses, and consumers through open banking and embedded finance technologies. The company opened its regional headquarters in Riyadh in 2025.
The new funding will be used to enhance its presence in Saudi Arabia and develop its embedded finance infrastructure, integrating customer verification, credit decision-making, and financing into a single digital journey under the brand of the partner financial institution.
Tarabut is increasingly focusing on financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), utilizing real-time financial data and cash flow data to assist financial institutions in assessing creditworthiness alongside traditional evaluation methods based on historical data. Tarabut does not provide financing from its own balance sheet.
This new funding round is the largest announced for the company since its Series A round of $32 million in 2023, led by Pinnacle Capital with participation from Visa, Tiger Global, and Aljazira Capital. Tarabut also acquired the UK payments company Vyne in 2024 and the Bahraini AI company Servable earlier in 2026.

The funding was participated by Riyad Bank, the X-Tech fund managed by SAB Invest, GIB Saudi Arabia, Zamil Group, and Kanoo Ventures, the investment arm of the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group, along with other regional institutions.
The deal is still subject to applicable regulatory approvals, including approval from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).
Founded in 2017 by Abdullah Al-Muayyad, Tarabut operates a financial infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain. The company initially focused on open banking services before expanding its operations to embedded finance, payments, and credit decision-making technologies.
The company opened its regional headquarters in Riyadh in 2025, coinciding with its increased focus on the Saudi market. It has also established connections with major banks in the Kingdom and works with financial institutions including Saudi National Bank, Alinma Bank, and SAB.
Tarabut will use the new capital to deepen its operations in Saudi Arabia and develop integrated solutions for embedded finance that combine customer verification, credit decision-making, and financing into a single digital journey.
Instead of providing financing directly from its own balance sheet, Tarabut provides an infrastructure that allows financial institutions to use authorized financial data from customers and real-time cash flow data to assess borrowers, make credit decisions, and provide financing through external platforms.
The company is increasingly focusing on financing SMEs, as traditional credit assessment processes rely on historical financial data and fixed documents.
Tarabut's technologies enable financial institutions to combine these documents with actual financial behavior and real-time cash flow data, providing a more up-to-date view of companies' financial situations and potentially reducing the time needed to make financing decisions.
Abdullah Al-Muayyad, founder and CEO of Tarabut, stated that financing SMEs represents one of the largest opportunities for the company, adding that financial institutions are looking to serve a larger number of creditworthy companies, while Tarabut's infrastructure helps translate actual financial behavior into a clearer picture to support decision-making.
A range of financial institutions in Saudi Arabia are already using Tarabut's technologies. American Express Saudi Arabia has utilized the company's open banking technologies to assess requests for credit limit increases, including requests from self-employed customers and those without fixed salaries.
Saudi National Bank (SNB) has also announced a point-of-sale financing product for SMEs supported by Tarabut's technologies, distributed through the payments company Geidea, while Tarabut has also collaborated with SAB in the field of embedded finance.
Tarabut claims that its infrastructure has processed over five billion requests via APIs in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain.
This new funding comes nearly three years after Tarabut raised $32 million in its Series A round in 2023, led by Pinnacle Capital with participation from Visa, Tiger Global, and Aljazira Capital. The company had previously raised $25 million through its Seed and Pre-Series A rounds in 2021.
Tarabut has also expanded its technical capabilities through acquisitions, having acquired the UK payments company Vyne in 2024, adding payment initiation capabilities to its open banking infrastructure, before acquiring the Bahraini AI engineering company Servable earlier in 2026 to enhance its capabilities in synthetic data, model training, and AI-driven decision-making for regulated financial institutions.

Global markets on September 16 are focused on the Fed rate decision. On September 15, the S&P 500 fell 0.45% to 7,585.73, the Nasdaq fell 0.78%, and the Dow fell 0.63% as the 10-year yield broke above 5% and Brent crude rose to about $109. The CLARITY procedural vote failed to clear the 60-vote threshold, sending bitcoin down to about $75,600 and Ethereum toward $2,400. Energy led with a gain of about 2.3%. Investors are waiting for the 14:00 ET policy statement and Walsh press conference on September 16.
