Tether May Return to the Bitcoin Network with Morgan Stanley
Tether may return to the Bitcoin network thanks to Morgan Stanley. Utexo's head, Viktor Ignatuk, reported a meeting with bank representatives in Washington, where the use of USDT and a potential partnership to promote the stablecoin were discussed. Tether's CEO, Paolo Ardoino, noted that USDT is "coming back home," as it first appeared on Bitcoin in 2014 through the Omni Layer protocol. However, support for this version was discontinued in 2023. Utexo is developing infrastructure for USDT operations through the Lightning Network, which will enable fast and cheap payments. Utexo's investment round of $7.5 million was led by Tether and other companies. Morgan Stanley has become active in the crypto sector, launching a Bitcoin ETF and crypto trading. Expectations for collaboration with Utexo have increased following Ignatuk's conversation with bank representatives, although there is currently no official partnership. The next step for Utexo will be integration with UniSat, a popular Bitcoin wallet with over 1 million users per week. Tether plans to implement RGB in August 2025, which should enhance scalability and privacy. However, in Europe, the promotion of USDT may face restrictions due to legislation.
