Velaura AI has announced the completion of $110 million in Series A financing, with the company valued at over $1 billion. This round of financing was led by Seligman Ventures, with new investor Capricorn Investment Group participating, alongside existing shareholders Samsung Catalyst Fund, StepStone Group, and Maverick Silicon. Velaura AI focuses on developing low-power chips and software technologies, primarily serving the data center and physical AI sectors, including robotics and autonomous driving systems. The funds will be used to accelerate AI product research and deployment, as well as to expand the engineering and customer teams. The company has launched its self-developed chip design platform, Titan Core, aimed at improving energy efficiency and power performance for data center workloads. Velaura has engaged in potential customer collaborations with three of the four major global cloud service providers, and its technology has been deployed in over 30 million chips. The company employs a business model that combines upfront licensing fees with revenue sharing based on customer energy savings, similar to Arm's early chip licensing approach.
