Visa in advanced talks to acquire Fireblocks for €2.2 billion
Visa and Fireblocks are in advanced negotiations regarding a potential acquisition valued at approximately €2.2 billion. The exact terms and progress of the discussions have not been disclosed, and both companies have yet to officially confirm the deal. Fireblocks provides digital vaults and payment infrastructure for banks and financial institutions, allowing customers to store crypto and execute transactions. Fireblocks' network connects over 2,400 financial entities, which would give Visa access to a wide range of crypto services. Visa has already expanded its processing of stablecoin payments to nine blockchains and supports financial institutions in setting up such services. For consumers, there will be no immediate changes, as no definitive deal has been reached and Visa has not announced any new products. The potential acquisition primarily focuses on the technology for storing and transferring crypto.
