Zcash Publishes 2,700 Validations to Strengthen Supply Trust

Zcash (ZEC) has released over 2,700 machine-verified proofs regarding the balance integrity of its new anonymous fund pool, Ironwood. This move is interpreted as an effort to reinforce trust in supply within a privacy structure that conceals transaction amounts and participants. The development organization Project Tachyon announced on the 28th that the proofs were the result of over a month of work by researchers from three research teams and cryptographers, with the proofs written in the formal proof language Lean. The core of the validation is 'balance integrity,' which stipulates that the anonymous fund pool cannot send out more value than it has received publicly. The researchers explained that this proof encompasses Ironwood's zero-knowledge proof system, circuit rules, and ledger unit accounting. Ironwood was introduced with the Zcash NU6.3 upgrade, and vulnerabilities allowing for ZEC counterfeiting were raised in the existing Orchard pool. The Zcash development team stated that there is no evidence that this flaw has been exploited in practice. Funds transitioning from Orchard to Ironwood must pass through a public accounting gateway called Turnstile, which verifies the inflow of funds from the existing pool. Market reactions have been cautious, with ZEC dropping nearly 40% following the vulnerability patch. The extent to which this proof publication will reduce doubts about supply integrity is expected to be confirmed during the fund transfer process from Orchard.
