  1. The key near-term variable is court approval. Until the New Jersey bankruptcy court signs off and settlement closes, the headline bid does not equal realized recovery.
  2. Creditors should also watch the final bankruptcy plan and distribution mechanics. The reported bid increase improves the sale backdrop, but creditor returns still depend on fees, claim treatment, and court-confirmed allocation.
  3. The case also remains exposed to non-sale risks, including the ongoing review of founder Kevin Pan’s personal liability and the open federal criminal investigation tied to Poolin Wallet.

The market focus is no longer just on whether Poolin can sell assets, but on how much of the eventual proceeds can actually be turned into recoveries.

Poolin told creditors at a Section 341 meeting that the bid for its bankruptcy asset auction has risen to $180 million from a previous baseline bid of about $52 million, while the sale still requires approval from the U.S. Federal Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey and final settlement.

According to details disclosed at the creditor meeting, the current bid is approximately 246% above the earlier baseline offer and about 3.46 times the original amount. Even so, the transaction is not final. Poolin said the outcome still depends on bankruptcy court confirmation and completion of the settlement process.

The same update said the final amount returned to creditors will depend on court approval, the bankruptcy plan, and subsequent distributions. That leaves a gap between the auction headline and the actual recovery that creditors may ultimately receive.

Poolin also disclosed a series of balance-sheet pressures tied to the case. Tokens belonging to Poolin Wallet users were previously used as collateral to borrow about $213 million from AntAlpha. Separately, Poolin advanced about $81 million to Lonestar Dream for the construction of U.S. mining sites, while accounts receivable from Poolin China were assigned an estimated value of zero.

Other legal and investigative issues remain unresolved. The personal liability of founder Kevin Pan is still under investigation, and the federal criminal investigation into Poolin Wallet remains open. Poolin filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July, after earlier moves tied to the sale of its Texas mining assets.

Why It Matters

The update matters because it shifts attention from distress liquidation risk to recovery execution risk. A much higher bid can strengthen the estate’s position, but in crypto bankruptcies the path from asset sale to creditor repayment is often shaped by court process, claim priority, and unresolved legal exposure rather than the auction number alone.

The case also highlights the lasting fallout from commingled platform activities across mining, wallet operations, borrowing, and related-party financing. For the broader industry, that keeps the focus on custody controls, collateral use, and the legal separation between user assets and operating capital when a crypto company enters restructuring.
