Agricultural Production in Ukraine Decreased by 1.6% in the First Half of 2026
Agricultural production in Ukraine from January to June 2026 decreased by 1.6% compared to the same period in 2025. This decline followed a growth of 1.4% during the first five months, which was driven by a sharp drop in crop production indicators. Crop production in agricultural enterprises fell by 14.8%, while livestock production increased by 10.7%, which did not offset the losses in crop production. The highest growth in crop production was recorded in Volyn (80.1%), Kherson (54.5%), Dnipropetrovsk (23.8%), Ternopil (20.7%), and Cherkasy (16.3%) regions. The largest reductions occurred in Donetsk (-52.6%), Zaporizhia (-35.6%), and Odesa (-34.3%). In livestock production, the best growth was shown by Kyiv (9.1%), Cherkasy (8.2%), Chernihiv (7%), Dnipropetrovsk (6.6%), and Kirovohrad (5.9%) regions. The decline in livestock production was most noticeable in Donetsk (-53.9%), Zakarpattia (-32.9%), and Kherson (-16.3%). For the year 2025, agricultural production in Ukraine decreased by 6.8% compared to 2024, despite an increase in grain production by 8.2%, reaching 61.04 million tons.
