Arthur Hayes Releases FLOP Whitepaper, AI Inference Computing Power Commercialized on Blockchain
Arthur Hayes released the whitepaper for the new project FLOP on September 7. FLOP is a proof-of-inference blockchain and native currency aimed at the agent economy. Agents use FLOP to pay miners for inference fees, converting currency into computational power and intelligence. FLOP aims to make AI inference computing power a purchasable, verifiable, and settleable on-chain commodity. AI Agents request inference using FLOP, miners run models, and validators confirm the credibility of the inference while settling rewards and block rewards. The initial supply of FLOP is approximately 2.48346 billion tokens, all allocated through airdrops, with no VC pre-mining or auctions. The first reward distribution allocates 75% to miners, 10% to validators, 10% to Agents, and 5% to regular stakers. The network has an average block time of one second, with an initial block reward of 96 FLOP, halving every 730 days for a total of five halvings, ultimately stabilizing at 3 FLOP. To become a miner or validator, one must stake FLOP tokens, and dishonest staking will incur penalties. Validators manage the network through FLOP improvement proposals.
