Korea Investment & Securities Prepares to Enter the Tokenized Securities Market

Korea Investment & Securities is preparing to enter the tokenization of structured securities such as stocks and bonds. The company aims to secure business rights in the digital asset sector and plans to be the first to enter the market based on its experience in traditional financial investment. Park Sung-jin, head of the Digital Asset Strategy Department, emphasized that providing products that can gain customer trust is a priority. Tokenized securities are structured to issue and circulate real assets or rights using electronic securities systems and blockchain technology, with Korea Investment & Securities focusing on the tokenization of stocks and bonds. This is considered to have high accessibility as it involves assets familiar to investors. Additionally, Korea Investment & Securities has made a strategic investment in Coinone to fully enter the digital asset market and plans to combine market understanding with financial products and risk management capabilities through collaboration with virtual asset exchanges. Stablecoins are also being considered as a payment method for tokenized securities, and an increase in service demand is anticipated due to the expansion of the corporate virtual asset market. However, as the regulations and market structure are not yet established, it seems that time will be needed for the business effects to materialize.
