Patrick Witt has left his position as executive director of the White House Crypto Council. A government official confirmed on October 14 that his temporary appointment has ended. Witt was involved in the CLARITY Act, a proposal for clearer cryptocurrency regulations, which stalled in the U.S. Senate last month. He led the Presidential Council of Advisors for Digital Assets since August 2025 and advised President Donald Trump on policy regarding bitcoin and other digital assets. His departure does not mean that plans for the legislation have been halted, as the White House still has a crypto council and other policy staff. David Sacks, who previously left as crypto czar, remains involved in technology policy.
