Topline Officials in Rio de Janeiro said they thwarted a bomb plot at Lady Gaga’s concert in Copacabana on Saturday that drew a record-breaking crowd of more than 2 million people, multiple outlets reported. Key Facts Police said they arrested a person responsible for a plan to attack the concert with explosive devices, along with a teenager, the BBC reported. “The suspects were recruiting participants, including minors, to carry out coordinated attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails,” police said in a statement acquired by multiple outlets. The attack was described as a “collective challenge” and was a way for the planners to gain “notoriety on social media,” police said, according to the Associated Press. Police received a tip about the attack plans, and subsequently carried out more than a dozen “search and seizure warrants” throughout Rio de Janeiro and other Brazilian states, Reuters reported. In April, she played two weekends at the music festival Coachella in California, and she recently had sold-out stadium shows in Mexico City.
