South Korean Government to Cover Up to 100% of Semiconductor Cluster Infrastructure Costs

The South Korean government will use national fiscal funds to cover up to 100% of the costs for building infrastructure such as electricity and water resources in areas designated as semiconductor industry clusters. This policy is based on the "Special Semiconductor Act" and includes: strengthening the composition and operation of the Special Committee for Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness; the designation process for semiconductor industry clusters and related support measures; support for training talent in the semiconductor industry; and enhancing the management and operation of the Special Account for Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness. According to the regulations, the costs for the industrial infrastructure necessary for the construction and operation of semiconductor industry clusters can be borne by both the central and local governments, with a minimum share of 50% of the total project cost and a maximum of up to 100%. Additionally, the government will prioritize support for talent recruitment matching and local professional talent training and retraining projects for semiconductor companies outside the capital region.
