Thiago Almada agrees to join River, negotiations with Atlético de Madrid ongoing

Thiago Almada has given the green light to join River, which is looking to finalize his transfer with Atlético de Madrid, owner of 50% of his rights. Almada's representative, Agustín Jiménez, met in Spain with Enrique Cerezo, president of Atlético, to agree on the details of the player's departure. Decisive progress or a possible agreement is expected this Monday. The operation could become the most expensive in the history of the Núñez club, which had previously negotiated in Madrid. Flamengo had also made an offer for Almada, with a proposal of 30 million euros, but the player did not accept a return to the Brasileirao. River and Atlético need to redefine the terms of the agreement, although a long-term contract with a significant salary for Almada has already been agreed upon. During his time at Atlético, Almada played 40 matches, scored four goals, and provided two assists. If the transfer is finalized, he will join Nicolás Otamendi and Ángel Correa as world champions arriving at River in this transfer market, marking the club's eighth signing.
