Trump Announces U.S. Will Rename Artificial Intelligence as 'Super Intelligence'
U.S. President Donald Trump stated at the United Nations General Assembly that all U.S. government documents will henceforth refer to artificial intelligence as "super intelligence." He emphasized opposition to global mechanisms that restrict artificial intelligence and pointed out that the term "artificial" makes intelligence seem fake. Trump welcomed everyone to the new world of super intelligence, asserting that whoever wins in this field will secure the future, noting that the U.S. is currently far ahead in this area. He previously initiated a poll on social media proposing to rename artificial intelligence as "super intelligence," "extremely high intelligence," or "supreme intelligence." Regarding regulation, Trump stated that if necessary, the U.S. Department of Justice and other law enforcement agencies will manage related risks, emphasizing that the development of this future technology will not be stifled. On the same day, U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres called on world leaders to strengthen regulation of artificial intelligence.
