Arm Holdings has acknowledged its review of the acquisition of Cerebras and Marvell Technology. Having started selling CPUs for AI servers, Arm Holdings is expanding its business scope beyond design licensing to direct chip supply. CFO Jason Child stated in an interview, "We will keep our eyes and ears open and look at various things." According to Bloomberg, Arm Holdings and SoftBank Group expressed interest in acquiring Cerebras ahead of its IPO but were turned down. Arm Holdings is a UK semiconductor design company controlled by SoftBank Group, which holds an 86% stake as of May 21, 2026. CFO Child mentioned the expansion of the AI server CPU business, noting constraints in memory and foundry supply. Arm Holdings acquired DreamBig for $265 million last year, and this statement suggests the possibility of a large transaction. Arm Holdings' ADR closed at $271.4 on Nasdaq on the 17th, with a year-to-date increase of 136.6%.
